... war einer der Aufrechten, die ein Verscherbeln des deutschen Schienennetzes verhindert hat, und wurde dafür als „sogenannter Bahnexperten“ geschmäht. Das Zusatz „sogenannter“ ist längst gestrichen: Hans Leister, Potsdam

... war und ist das Gewissen zur unvollendeten Bahnreform. Die Lust verlieren und die DB machen lassen ist keine Lösung: Dr. Felix Berschin, Heidelberg

... war ein völlig unprätentiöser und hochqualifizierter Fachmann in Sachen Bahnpolitik. Als Intimus und Berater von Sassmannshausen kann man sagen, er kam aus dem Maschinenraum der Bahnreform und hat Zeit seines Lebens dafür gekämpft, dass die Bahnreform umgesetzt wird. Alle seine Mitstreiter müssen leider einräumen , es war ein Kampf gegen Windmühlen. Er tat dies mit hochqualifizierten Beiträgen in seriösen Medien, aber auch im Parlament und in den bahnpoliischen Wirtschaftsverbänden, die ihm wesentliche Impulse verdankten, um in Sachen open access voranzukommen.. Alle privaten Bahnunternehmen haben von seinem unermüdlichen Einsatz profitiert und sind Gottfried Ilgman zu großem Dank verpflichtet: Dr. Arthur-Iren Martini, Berlin

...war damals Berater der Regierungskommission. Und der entscheidende „schlaue Kopf“ dahinter. Als ich zur Bahn kam, arbeitete Gottfried bereits für uns. Höhepunkt war in der Folge dann Netz 21, das viel zu früh an DBN abgegeben wurde und deswegen bestattet wurde. Mit ihm im Büro und in den Meetings, das war immer irgendwie ein Stück „große Welt“. Und wen er alles kann, wenn er mich einmal mitnahm. Er kam meistens schwungvoll um die Ecke, hatte ein verschmitztes Lächeln auf den Lippen, er war damals in den besten Jahren, trug zumeist einen hellen Trench und eine braune Lederaktentasche. Ein Markenzeichen…
Ich vermisse ihn. Es gibt nicht so viele verlässliche Mitstreiter, Freunde des Wettbewerbs, die sich nicht drum kümmern, ob sie von DB & Co hintenrum oder direkt mit Missachtung belohnt, mit Nicht-Beauftragung sanktioniert werden. Das klappt heute immer noch ganz gut… wie erinnerlich zählten Gottfried und ich zu den offiziell von Hartmut Mehdorn ausgespähten „Feinden“ der DB. Lächerlich, und doch so traurig.
